Panasonic has added three new series of Class 10 SD cards to its flash memory line. The fastest of the three is the Gold Pro series of the sdhc type, which can achieve a read speed of 95MB/s and a write speed of 80MB/s.

The Gold Pro series is equipped with Panasonic’s Super Intelligent Controller. This controller prevents the data on the memory card from becoming corrupted when the power supply is interrupted and extends the lifespan by, among other things, spreading the write operations evenly over the available memory cells. A refresh function is also built in, which preventively updates data before errors can occur.

The new Gold Pro SDHC series will be available in 8, 16 and 32GB storage sizes and will meet the class 1 specification of the ultra high speed SD standard. The Gold Pro series has a read speed of 95MB/s, while the maximum write speed is 80MB/s. Because of the high writing speed, Panasonic believes that the Gold Pro cards will be particularly popular with DSLR owners. The SDHC cards are also water and dust resistant and can withstand extreme temperatures.

Panasonic is not the first to achieve read and write speeds of 95 and 80MB/s respectively. At the IFA 2010 announced Toshiba already offers a similar series of SD cards.

Panasonic also introduces a renewed Gold series. This SDU series is of the sdxc type and has to do with a read speed of 90 and a write speed of 35MB/s. Panasonic is thinking of applications such as full HD movies and 3D movie content. Like the Gold Pro flash memory, the new Gold SD cards are equipped with a Super Intelligent Controller and are available in sizes from 4 to 64 GB. The new Gold series also meets the uhs-i speed specification.

Finally, the Japanese company is announcing a Class 10 micro SD series. This SME series has a read and write speed of 22 and 12MB/s respectively. These cards will mainly find their way to smartphones and tablets.
