Owners of the Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL are struggling with swollen batteries
A number of owners of the Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL are struggling with a swollen battery, causing the smartphone to no longer function properly. Google will exchange the devices, but it is still unclear exactly what caused the battery problems.
The owners of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL reported their problems on Google support forums, among other things, Android Police discovered. A topic on the forum already has more than a hundred responses, with dozens of users struggling with battery problems. People also report the problems on Reddit.
On the forum, owners of the Pixel smartphone, among other things, post images of the back, which appears to be swollen by the battery. People also report problems with wireless charging. It is recommended that devices with a swollen battery should no longer be used because of the risk of explosion.
Google has responded to support forums with an offer to swap the affected devices. The company also does this for devices that are already out of warranty. There was no response to the question of whether there is an underlying problem with the batteries.
Google stopped selling the Pixel 3 smartphones earlier this year. The devices were released in October 2018.
