Overwatch League chief leaves Epic for Fortnite eSports
Nate Nanzer, CEO of the Overwatch League, has announced that he is leaving for Epic Games. At Epic Games, he will take up a position in the competitive esports branch. Nanzer announced his departure via his twitter page.
on his twitter page let the Overwatch League chief know it was one of the toughest choices of his life. According to ESPN, Pete Vlastelica, former vice president of Fox Sports, will take over Nanzer’s duties with the Overwatch League.
Nanzer pitched the idea of a competitive competition to Overwatch developer Jeff Kaplan at Gamescom 2015. That idea then ended up with several Blizzard executives, such as Bobby Kotick. The Overwatch League finally came out in January 2017. Nanzer is seen as one of the people within Blizzard who made the Overwatch League great. Millions of dollars are involved in the competition.
Earlier this month, Epic Games also acquired Rocket League developer Psyonix. In the game, which appeared in 2015, the player must use cars and flying skills to work the ball into the goal. Rocket League is also an important esports title.
