Overwatch has 35 million players
Blizzard has announced that the game Overwatch now has a total of 35 million players. At the end of April, the number of 30 million players was reached, which means that 5 million players have been added in just over five months.
Blizzard made the number of players known through his Twitter channel. The number of 35 million is spread across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Blizzard has not released any further details on this latest figure, however. For example, it is not clear whether this refers to 35 million in the number of copies sold or the number of active player accounts.
The growth in the number of Overwatch players is slowing down. At the end of January the number of 25 million was reached, and by the end of April that number was already at 30 million; so 5 million players were added in three months. The step from 30 to 35 million players took more than two months longer.
The company released the shooter in May last year; the game is now a year and four months old. In early August, Blizzard then reported that the number of players had grown to 15 million, having already surpassed 10 million by mid-June.
The studio regularly adds new things to the game. At the moment, Overwatch’s annual Halloween event, called Halloween Terror, is running. During this event, players will have access to the special co-op game mode, Junkenstein Revenge, where four players must defend a gate from enemies. In addition, special Halloween items are available.
