Overwatch 2 will be released in early access on October 4 and will be free-to-play
Overwatch 2 will be released in early access on October 4, 2022. Blizzard Entertainment announced this during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. This initially concerns the pvp part of the game. Overwatch 2 will be free-to-play.
Overwatch 2 will get at least two new playable heroes at release, Sojourn and Junker Queen. In addition, some existing heroes will receive a rework. The title will also receive two new maps with its early access release on October 4: one set in Toronto and one in New York City. The developer also talks about a new game mode, Push. The release date of the new pve part, in which players compete against computer-controlled enemies, has not been announced.
Blizzard also announces that Overwatch 2 will be free-to-play, where the first part was still a paid game. The studio is also announcing a Founder’s Pack, which will give players of the first Overwacht an exclusive icon, two Epic skins and other extras. Players must own the first Overwatch by June 23rd to get the Founder’s Pack.
Overwatch 2 was already announced in 2019 and earlier this year the developer already came up with some new details. The game consists of a pvp part, similar to its predecessor, and a new pve part with a story. Those two parts come out separately.
