Outlying areas of Alkmaar and Heerhugowaard get fiber optic
The outer areas of Alkmaar and Heerhugowaard will have their own fiber optic network. FiberNH announces that sufficient registrations have been received to start the construction of the fiber network next year.
According to FiberNH, the current sign-up rate is 57 percent; a percentage of 50 was sufficient to start the construction of the fiber optic network. In the past six weeks, residents of the outlying areas had the opportunity to register.
In this region of North Holland there are various fiber optic projects that are getting off the ground, such as in the municipality of Koggenland. FiberNH will be installing fiber optic in several surrounding areas, such as in the outlying area of West Friesland. Fiber optic networks may also be installed in the municipality of Schagen and Den Helder.
It was also intended that another fiber optic company, E-Fiber, would install fiber optic in the city of Heerhugowaard. In June, it turned out that the current percentage displayed by E-Fiber was deliberately or unintentionally displayed too high. In the end, there were too few registrations, which made it unprofitable for E-Fiber to install fiber optic.
As is usual with this type of regional fiber project, residents have to pay extra money to use a fiber connection. Customers in the outlying areas of Heerhugowaard and Alkmaar can pay 1950 euros once, or they have to pay 20 euros each month on top of the subscription price for the duration of the subscription.
