The outer areas of Kaag en Braassem, Nieuwkoop and Teylingen-Oost will have a fiber optic network. The condition usually applied in this type of project that at least fifty percent of the addresses have taken out a subscription has been met.

According to GlasDraad Groene Hart, a collaboration between fiber optic installer Mabin and investment company Tinc, the counter is now at 51 percent, which means that construction of the fiber network will start after the summer. People who still want to register can only do so through a personal agreement with the contractor.

Consumers in the relevant region can choose from four different ISPs: Solcon, MultiFiber, CBizz and Weserve. In addition to a subscription with one of these parties, each address must also pay a standing fee of 15 euros per month for the financing of the connection and maintenance for a period of fifteen years; after that it can be bought off for 15 euros. This obligation can also be surrendered for a one-off payment of 1,815 euros.

The preparations and material orders for the construction have already started, according to GlasDraad Groene Hart and consultations are underway with municipalities and other stakeholders to realize the roll-out of the fiber optic. The first households are expected to start using a fiber optic connection sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.
