The outer area of Groene Hart Noord will have a fiber optic network. On Tuesday, the condition was met in this area that at least fifty percent of the addresses in the area had signed for a fiber optic subscription.

The area of Groene Hart Noord concerns the inhabitants in the outskirts of the municipalities of Ronde Venen, Stichtse Vecht West and Ouder-Amstel. The most important condition of the CIF to proceed with the construction is that 50 percent of all addresses in the area purchase a fiber optic subscription from one of the providers; an agreement is actually concluded to which customers are committed. On Tuesday it was announced that 53.9 percent of the residents have taken out a subscription.

The fiber optic installation will start somewhere ‘mid this year’. The first residents are expected to have access to a fiber optic connection by the end of 2018, CIF reports. Residents who initially did not purchase a fiber optic connection and who do so at a later date must pay one-off connection costs of at least 995 euros.

There is also a standing fee. This is a fee that is necessary for, for example, the construction of the infrastructure and maintenance. This fee is in addition to the monthly subscription price and amounts to 15 euros per month, but this fee can also be surrendered with a one-off payment of 1900 euros.
