The first person shooter horror games The House of the Dead 1 and 2, which came out in 1996 and 1998 respectively, are getting a remake. Publisher Forever Entertainment announced this on Twitter.

Forever Entertainment says that the contract to make the remakes has been signed, but no further information can be released yet. For example, it is still unclear on which platforms the remakes will be released and when that will be the case.

Earlier, a Polish website already reported about the arrival of the remakes of The House of the Dead games. According to that website, the original games are graphically adapted to today’s standards and the gameplay is slightly modified, but the original scenario is preserved. That may mean that the striking voice acting is preserved, something that some already specifically do have asked for.

The publisher is also responsible for the remakes of the Japanese shooting games Panzer Dragon 1 and 2. Both these games and the original The House of the Dead are so-called rail shooters, where the player can control within the contours of the game world shown on the screen. where he moves or what he shoots at, but the path to be covered is beyond the player’s control.

The original The House of the Dead is a typical rail shooter released by Sega for arcade cabinets, as well as for the Sega Saturn and Windows. House of the Dead 2 was released for arcade cabinets, the Sega Dreamcast and Windows. They are horror action games in which players have to fight their way through zombies, who sometimes run fast. After parts one and two, there were also a few successors and the necessary spin-offs, such as The House of the Dead: Overkill in 2009.
