Optoma releases new Pico projector
Projector manufacturer Optoma has released a new portable Pico projector. The Pico PK 120 is the successor to the Pico PK 102 and is able to illuminate a surface with an image diagonal of up to 70″.
The handy projector measures 117x60x21mm and, like previous Pico projectors, uses the dlp-technology. Compared to its predecessor, the light output is mainly raised, up to 18 ansi lumens. The Pico PK102 could display an image with a diagonal of up to 60″, the new version can handle a diagonal of 70″ in a darkened room. With more ambient light, a maximum image diagonal of 40″ is possible.
The resolution has also gone up. The PK102 had a resolution of 480×320 pixels, where the PK120 can display an image of 640 by 360 pixels. The contrast ratio is 2000:1 according to the manufacturer. The Pico PK120 also has 2GB of internal memory – that is half less than the PK102, but on the other hand, the new pocket projector is equipped with a micro-SD slot for up to 32GB extra storage space. The PK120 also has a universal I/O port with included adapter cables for VGA and AV-in, an analog audio output, a mini-USB port and two 0.5W speakers.
The battery of the Pico PK120 is good for about 1.5 hours of playing time in eco mode, but the mini-beamer can also be connected to the socket. The PK120 also has extensive media support, including for MS Office files, PDF, HTML and the most important video and audio formats. Operation is via seven buttons on the top and finally the front is interchangeable. The Pico PK120 is available immediately for a suggested retail price of 199 euros.
