OPPO’s first tablet has Snapdragon 870 and 11 “display

OPPO has unveiled the OPPO Pad, its first tablet. The device is currently exclusive to the Chinese market, but may come to other countries at a later date. The tablet can also form the basis for the Pad of the same name from sister company OnePlus, about which rumors have been circulating for some time.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 is a high-end model from 2021. It is paired with 6 or 8GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB ufs 3.1 storage memory. The 11″ LTPS-IPS LCD has a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The battery has a capacity of 8360mAh. It can be charged with a maximum of 33W. The tablet can also work with the so-called OPPO Pencil, a magnetic stylus that can be charged by the tablet.A keyboard case is also made. The housing itself is made of metal, with a glass back, according to GSMArena, among others.

Somewhat striking is that the tablet comes with Android 11, while Android 12 has been out for a while. 9to5Google speculates that this is because OPPO is using a tablet version of its ColorOS, which is lagging behind the development of the smartphone variant.

It is OPPO’s first tablet. Although it will be available exclusively for the Chinese market, that could of course change in the future. It is not uncommon for such a device to be released first in the maker’s home country and later elsewhere. In addition, this could also form the basis for the OnePlus Pad, the tablet about which rumors are circulating in the near future. The brand name is registered with the European Trademark Office and 91Mobiles claims that the tablet will be released in India in the second half of this year.

It would not be the first time that there is overlap in the designs of OnePlus devices and those of sister company OPPO. The OnePlus 7 Pro was very similar to the OPPO Reno 10x, the 8 Pro did that with the Find X2 Pro and the 9 Pro again with the X3. The two also draw together in terms of software.
