Oppo Reno2 will get an upgrade to Android 10 in early 2020
Smartphone manufacturer Oppo has announced that the Reno2 will receive an upgrade to Android 10 in the first quarter of 2020, making it Oppo’s first device outside its home country of China with ColorOS 7, the shell around Android 10. Other models will follow from the second quarter.
Oppo’s announcement primarily applies to Oppo users in Western Europe. On the home market of China, ColorOS 7 has already been distributed to the Reno and Reno 10X Zoom as well as the Reno Ace since this week. In our region is the first of the new operating system for the Reno2, which came on the market last month. Owners of this device can expect the upgrade before the end of March.
Starting in Q2 2020, Oppo says the upgrade will also be available in Western Europe for the Reno, Reno 10X Zoom, Reno Z and 2Z, the RX17 Pro, Find X and the Lamborghini edition of the Find X. next year will be the Oppo A9 2020, A5 2020, R15 and R15 Pro.
The main specifications of ColorOS 7 were already known earlier. The user interface has been simplified, includes a new font and now also supports a dark mode. Also new is the collaboration with Epic Sound. This Danish audio company developed new sound effects based on nature sounds that should lead to a ‘more pleasant listening experience’.
Furthermore, Oppo claims that apps start faster after the upgrade and deal more efficiently with the available RAM. Finally, the new Private Safe feature ensures that photos, videos and other personal documents are kept in a secure zone, which apps cannot access.
