OPPO has presented its MR Glass, a mixed reality glasses intended for developers in China to create and display MR apps. The glasses use a Snapdragon SoC and work with the Snapdragon Spaces developer platform.

The MR Glass uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ SoC and has two RGB cameras on the front. For example, the glasses can transmit images from outside to the user, allowing the MR Glass to be used for mixed reality applications. The glasses also contain pancake lenses and a 120Hz refresh rate. The resolution does not mention OPPO. The manufacturer does say that the glasses support fast charging and will have a heart rate sensor.

The company does not yet aim to sell the glasses to consumers, but mainly releases the glasses for developers who can use them to create MR applications. The glasses will be released in the second half of this year; a price or possible European release date is not mentioned.

OPPO says it is working with Qualcomm for the glasses and says it wants to create an ‘open ecosystem’ with this company. The parties say that MR applications can improve people’s productivity and creativity and can be used for gaming. MR Glass will work with Snapdragon Spaces, a Qualcomm developer kit that was introduced at the end of 2021 and lets developers create XR apps. OPPO previously released AR glasses, including the AR Glass and the Air Glass.
