Oppo introduces R7s with 4GB ram and 5.5″ OLED screen
Oppo comes with a new Android smartphone in the R7 series. The R7s gets a Snapdragon 615-soc, is equipped with 4GB ram and has a 5.5″ OLED screen. There is a battery with a capacity of 3070mAh in the housing.
Like the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus, which were introduced in May, the R7s has a metal unibody housing. Like the previous R7 smartphones, the new model has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615-soc. This octacore consists of two clusters of four computing cores. Four cores run at 1.7GHz, the other four run at 1GHz. An Adreno 405 GPU takes care of the graphical tasks. The 5.5″ screen is of the AMOLED type and has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
The Oppo R7s has 4GB of RAM, 1GB more than in the R7 and R7 Plus. In addition, there is 32GB of storage space, which can be expanded with a micro-SD card of up to 128GB. In that case, users will lose the option to add a second SIM card. The Oppo R7s offers support for all LTE bands that are used in the Benelux for 4G connections.
At 6.95mm, the device is slightly thicker than the original R7, which measures 6.3mm. This is probably due to the larger battery in the R7s, which has a capacity of 3070mAh, compared to 2320mAh in the R7. According to Oppo’s own test, that is good for 13 hours and 15 minutes of ‘real-world use’. The R7 Plus offers the largest battery capacity with 4100mAh, but this model with a 6-inch screen is also the thickest at 7.75mm.
Like the other R7 devices, the R7s has a 13-megapixel camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The sensors feature phase detection pixels for autofocus. According to Oppo, the camera app on the new model opens thirty percent faster than before. The smartphone runs on ColorOS 2.1, a modified version of Android 5.1.
With VOOC Flash Charge technology and the included fast charger, the battery of the R7s can be charged to ninety percent in fifty minutes, according to Oppo. Leaving the device on the charger for five minutes should provide enough power for two hours of talk time.
Oppo has announced the R7s at Gitex, a tech fair that takes place in Dubai. The Chinese manufacturer says it is doing this to make the brand more visible in the region. Oppo also wants to increase its market share in the Middle East and North Africa. In Europe, the Oppo R7s will go on sale from December through the OPPOstyle website. It is not yet known how much the device will cost.
