Oppo hints at release of its own VR glasses
Oppo has hinted at the release of its own VR glasses via social network Weibo. The photo accompanying the post shows a woman wearing a VR headset with Oppo logo on her head. The VR headset will probably come at the same time as the N3 smartphone with rotatable camera.
The post on Weibo shows a text next to the photo to the effect that a new product is coming and people can’t win prizes by guessing what it is. The Chinese manufacturer has an event planned for next week to present its N3 smartphone, making it obvious that the manufacturer will also announce the VR headset on that day. In addition, web store Ibuygou says on Facebook that it already has the headset.
The VR headset in the image is black with green accents, but further details are still unknown. Presumably, the Oppo N3 smartphone will fit in it. This smartphone would have an LCD with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a diagonal of 5.9″. The Android smartphone with Snapdragon 805-soc has a rotatable camera, something that Oppo itself almost confirmed on a render. Unlike the previous ones. N1 automatically rotates the camera. It is a 1/2.3″ sensor with a maximum resolution of 16 megapixels.
Oppo’s event will take place on Wednesday, October 29. The Chinese manufacturer released the Find 7 and 7a smartphones earlier this year. With the release of VR glasses, Oppo is far from the first: Oculus, Google and Samsung, among others, are working on VR glasses.
