OPPO claims to be able to fully charge smartphone with 240W in 9 minutes
OPPO announces innovations for its SuperVOOC fast charging technology that allows charging with a power of 240W. A smartphone with support for 150W fast charging will be released in the second quarter of this year.
OPPO shows in a video how a smartphone that is almost empty in nine minutes fully charged with a power of 240W. The battery capacity of the device is 4500mAh. The manufacturer uses a 24V power supply and a USB-C interface. The charger contains three charge pumps. According to OPPO, this meets ‘the existing device specifications and has been tested for heat dissipation’. The company will not provide details on when the SuperVOOC technology for fast charging in question will actually be incorporated into commercially available smartphones.
OPPO also announced the arrival of a 150W SuperVOOC generation during Mobile World Congress. This should come to a OnePlus smartphone in the second quarter. The fast charger can fully charge a 4500 mAh battery in fifteen minutes and can charge it to half in five minutes. OPPO reports using gallium nitride and two charging pumps for the charger. It has a weight of 172 grams and dimensions of 58x57x30mm, similar to the existing SuperVOOC charger with a power of 65W. The manufacturer claims that after 1600 charging cycles, 80 percent of the original charging capacity is still retained. The company would achieve this by, among other things, better protecting the electrode material and using improved energy management chips.
Realme also announces the fast charging technology under its own name 150W UltraDart. It will be available first for the GT Neo 3 smartphone. Realme, like OnePlus and OPPO, is part of the BBK Electronics company.
