Oppo brings its ‘selfie phone’ R9 to Europe under the name F1 Plus. The smartphone has a front camera with a higher number of megapixels than that on the back, namely sixteen and thirteen megapixels.

The Android phone came out a month ago in China as R9 and has a MediaTek MT6755-soc on board with eight cores, 4GB ram and 64GB storage memory. The AMOLED screen has a diagonal of 5.5″ and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

With a micro-SD card in the second nano-SIM slot, the storage capacity can be expanded, although the advantage of dual-SIM is negated. The battery has a capacity of 2850mAh and offers support for Oppo’s fast charging technology Super VOOC Flash Charge, with which it can be charged to 75 percent in half an hour. As an operating system, Oppo delivers Android 5.1 with its own ColorOS 3.0 sauce over it.

It is the first smartphone to be released in Europe with a front-facing camera that has more megapixels than the rear. The selfie camera has a 1/3.1″ sensor with a lens with an f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera has a maximum resolution of thirteen megapixels and an f/2.2 lens.

The Oppo F1 Plus will be available in Europe from May in gold or ‘golden pink’ colours. The phone will cost 389 euros and is already available in India, followed by other Southeast Asian countries. Then Europe follows.
