Browser builder Opera has released its gaming browser GX for macOS. The browser allows users to limit the use of the processor, memory and internet connection so as not to get in the way of games.

This is an early test version of the browser, Opera reports. The Windows version came out six months ago. In both cases, these are early access versions of the browser. It is unknown if and when a Linux version of the browser will be released.

Via the GX Control panel, users can indicate how much processing power or ram the browser may use, so that the rest is left over for a video game, for example. As a result, players can also run a web browser while gaming. It is also possible to limit how much bandwidth the browser uses.

In addition to the GX Control, the browser gets Twitch integration. Users can log into Twitch via the browser sidebar and also receive notifications when a followed streamer starts streaming. The browser also comes with a GX Corner, where gaming related news and offers are presented. The look of the browser is also aimed at gamers, according to Opera, with “console-inspired animations and sound effects.” Opera GX can be found on the browser builder’s site.
