Opera browser gets Chromecast support and built-in RSS reader

Opera gets support for Google’s HDMI dongle Chromecast. The browser builder has added support for the dongle to the developer version of the desktop variant. Users need the Google Cast extension from the Opera Store.

The extension allows the browser to cast tabs to the dongle, Opera says. It looks like that feature works the same as it does in Chrome. Thanks to Chromecast support, users can show web pages on the TV or, for example, show videos playing in the browser on a larger screen.

In addition, the browser builder has an RSS reader built in. It’s under the Personal News heading. Users can add RSS feeds and then read all new posts from all feeds through the functionality. Adding feeds is done via Add Sources, after which users have to paste the url of the RSS feed.

There are still several bugs in the developer version. For example, users must use a workaround to delete a feed. The developer version of Opera is on the site of the browser builder, which will soon be in Chinese hands.
