OpenAI makes the ChatGPT voice feature available to all users
OpenAI makes the ChatGPT voice feature available to everyone. Until now, the Voice function was only available to customers of a Plus or Enterprise subscription. The voice function is available via the app version of ChatGPT.
Users can tap the headset icon via the ChatGPT app on iOS and Android, after which they can ask OpenAI’s chatbot with a voice command. With a text-to-speech model, ChatGPT can also return the generated information in audio form.
One person asks in the promotional video: “It’s been a long night for the team and we’re hungry. How many 16″ pizzas should we order for 778 people?” ChatGPT then makes a calculation. The company may be referring to itself, since OpenAI has approximately that many employees and there is currently a lot of commotion surrounding decisions by the board.
Specifically, there is a lot of disagreement about the sudden firing of co-founder and CEO Sam Altman and his move to Microsoft. Another co-founder, Greg Brockman, resigned in response. Both top executives have now returned to the company.
ChatGPT with voice is now available to all free users. Download the app on your phone and tap the headphones icon to start a conversation.
