OpenAI has made GPT-4 available to developers, in the form of its API. GPT-4 was already used by a number of companies to create code, images, video, music and combinations thereof and ChatGPT 4 was also available.

“Today all developers get [die de api willen gebruiken] with a history of successful payments access the GPT-4 API with 8K context,” the company writes in a blog post. Later this month, OpenAI will give more developers access to the API and rate limits should increase depending on how much computing power is available.

This version of the GPT language model was previously used for Microsoft’s Security Copilot and Github Copilot and to create profiles on LinkedIn. Language learning app Duolingo has created an ‘AI teacher’ using GPT-4.

Based on the ‘stability and readiness of these models’, the GPT-3.5 Turbo, Dall-E and Whisper APIs are also being made available to a wider audience. Older models based on GPT-3, such as ADA, Babbage and Curie, are being decommissioned to save computing power. These will be replaced by new models, but developers will have to make some adjustments to their API configurations.
