Onyx presents three E Ink tablets with Android 11 and screens up to 13.3 “

Onyx adds three Boox tablets with E Ink screens to its range. Those are the Max Lumi2, Note5 and Note Air2. The new models have more RAM and storage space than their predecessors, a faster processor and run on Android 11.

The three new E Ink tablets all have black and white screens; for the Max Lumi2, Onyx uses the Carta 1250 panel from E Ink, with a diagonal of 13.3″ and a resolution of 2200×1650 pixels. The Note5 and Note Air2 have Carta screens of 10.3″ with a resolution of 1872×1404 pixels.

According to the manufacturer, the Note Air2 has a stronger magnet for attaching the stylus. The storage space has also been doubled to 64GB and the RAM increased to 4GB. With the predecessor, that was 32GB and 3GB. The three tablets have an octa-core processor with four powerful and four economical cores. Onyx does not give more details about the chip.

The tablets are equipped with a USB-C connection and are equipped with speakers and a microphone. The screens feature a writing film, a layer that should provide a paper-like writing and sketching experience when the accompanying stylus is used. Onyx also introduces two new pens, the Boox Pen Plus and the Boox Pen2 Pro. The former has a thicker tip and the Pro model gets a new design with an eraser on the back.

Onyx provides the tablets with an operating system based on Android 11 and its new 3.2 firmware, with several improvements for file sharing and split screen use. The tablets are compatible with third-party software such as OneNote, Evernote and WPS. The new Onyx Boox tablets will be available to order from October 27, for suggested retail prices ranging from $500 to $880. The manufacturer does not mention Euro prices.
