Onyx Boox releases Nova Air e-reader with Android, stylus and 7.8″ screen
Onyx Boox brings a new E-Ink tablet that runs on Android. The Nova Air has a black and white screen with a screen diagonal of 7.8 inches with backlight, and has support for a stylus.
The Onyx Boox Nova Air is a light tablet that, according to the Chinese company, is not only intended for reading books, but also for working on. The device has an E-Ink display of 1872×1404 pixels with glass in front. The refresh rate of the screen is unknown, but the tablet does have support for the Boox Pen, Nova’s own stylus that is also included with the tablet. The stylus can be used to take notes. The software is specifically made for this by means of handwriting recognition and by supporting five different brushes.
The screen has a backlight that can be set in different positions of warm and cold light. The tablet runs on Android 10. Users can also download apps from Nova’s own Boox Store.
The tablet measures 194×136.7×6.3mm and weighs 235 grams. The device also has dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0, a USB-C port, and a headphone jack in addition to a microphone and stereo speakers. Nova says users can listen to audiobooks with it too. The 2000mAh battery is said to have a standby time of 26 days. In addition to the 3GB memory, the tablet also has 32GB of internal storage.
Onyx has the tablet on its site as a preorder for 350 dollars, converted about 300 euros. Buyers will also receive a screen protector in addition to the stylus. Optionally, they can buy one of the two protective covers. The standard cover costs $40, but there is also a magnetic cover with pogopins that also has a physical button that allows readers to scroll through pages. It is not known when the tablet will be delivered.
