OnLeaks shares renders Samsung Galaxy S23 phones without a camera island
OnLeaks shares renders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+ phones. This shows that Samsung omits the camera island. Instead, the company incorporates three individual cameras into the back of the devices.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+ will keep the three cameras on the back, according to OnLeaks, but these would no longer be processed in a raised camera island. This is apparent from the renders published by the well-known leaker in collaboration with Digit and tech website Smartpix. Samsung previously used a similar design for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, although that device had four camera sensors.
Furthermore, the S23 will reportedly get a 6.1 “screen, while the S23 + variant would get a larger 6.6 ” panel. The phones will both be slightly larger than their predecessors. For example, the ‘regular’ S23 would be slightly higher and wider than the S22. The S23+ is in turn higher, but also less wide than the S22+.
The devices also seem to visually correspond to the current Galaxy S22 devices, apart from the camera setup and the changed dimensions. The USB-C port, punch-hole camera in the screen, speakers and the volume and power buttons are all in the same place. Technical specifications of the smartphones are not yet known.
Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy S23 series in January or February of 2023. According to rumors, the devices are all equipped with a Qualcomm soc, also in Europe. This could possibly be an alleged Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, although that has not yet been confirmed.
