OnePlus starts releasing Android 10 again for OnePlus 6 and 6T

OnePlus has once again started releasing Android 10 updates for the OnePlus 6 and 6T. In November, the company already started rolling out Android 10, but this update was later withdrawn due to bugs. The upgrade will be distributed in phases.

OnePlus reports on its forum that OxygenOS 10.0.1 will gradually be available for OnePlus 6 and 6T users. In November, the company already announced that it would provide its OnePlus 6 and 6T with Android 10 in the near future, but OnePlus later withdrew this update due to unresolved bugs. For example, users reported problems with fingerprint scanners. Initially, the company wanted to resume sending the update, but eventually the rollout was stopped completely. The company now comes with a new update, which should fix the bugs.

OxygenOS 10.0.1 is based on Android 10. This Android version includes several new features, including a new interface, new gesture controls and an improved version of Ambient Display. For the time being, the function to hide the notch in the screen by software is missing. It is unclear if this feature will be added again in a future update. The new update also includes multiple bug fixes. For example, the aforementioned problems with the fingerprint scanner have been solved. Also, connectivity issues with 5GHz Wi-Fi connections have been fixed. OxygenOS 10.0.1 includes an October Android security update. The company is therefore still two months behind.

The update is not immediately available to all users. OnePlus is gradually releasing the update to users. In this way, the company hopes to be able to intervene in time in case of any problems. In September, OnePlus released an upgrade to Android 10 for OnePlus 7 smartphones. An upgrade for OnePlus 5 devices will appear in the second quarter of 2020.
