OnePlus releases test version Android 5.0 for One
OnePlus has released a test version of its own firmware for its OnePlus One smartphone. The Android 5.0-based rom has no name yet and should replace the implementation of CyanogenMod on the smartphone in India, for example.
According to OnePlus, it is an alpha version of the firmware. There are several issues, such as the firmware cannot receive an update over-the-air, the clock occasionally crashes, the backlight of the touch-sensitive buttons does not turn off when users use the on-screen buttons, and Wi-Fi is unstable.
It is an unmodified version of Android 5.0. In the coming months, OnePlus wants to expand the firmware with options, but promises that it will not be a variant full of bloatware. It is unknown when the final version will be released.
OnePlus makes the firmware, because CyanogenMod in India, for example, does not update the software for the OnePlus One. In addition, OnePlus will probably supply smartphones with its own software in its home country of China. It used ColorOS from parent company Oppo in China until now. Whether CyanogenMod will stop supporting the OnePlus One altogether is unknown.
