OnePlus releases Android 8.1 update for 5 and 5T smartphones
OnePlus has started releasing a software update that will install Android 8.1 on the OnePlus 5 and 5T. As usual, the update will be available over-the-air for owners of the smartphones.
OnePlus has announced on its own forum that it is version 5.1.0 of OxygenOS, the shell that the Chinese manufacturer lays over the Android operating system. In addition to the introduction of Android 8.1, the update also installs a recent Android security patch, which is patch 2018-04.
The Chinese manufacturer is also adding support for full-screen gestures on the OnePlus 5T, which replace the standard buttons to go back or navigate to the home screen. In addition, the manufacturer reports that new optimizations have been made in the game mode, which uses less power and makes it possible to pause the adaptive brightness function.
OnePlus is now releasing the update to users, but this is happening gradually and initially only reaching a small number of users of one of the two phones. The manufacturer says that a broad rollout of the update will only take place in a few days.
