OnePlus presents cheaper Nord CE phone with larger battery

OnePlus has presented two new phones. Compared to the previous Nord CE models, the Nord CE 2 Lite has a lower price, a larger battery and a screen with a higher refresh rate, the manufacturer says.

OnePlus has, presumably to reduce costs, exchanged the OLED screen for an LCD. That has a diagonal of 6.59 “, considerably larger than the 6.43 “screens of the other Nord CE models. The refresh rate of the LCD is higher at 120Hz than that of the models with OLED screen, which come up to 90Hz.

The soc is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695, one of the cheaper socs with a 5G modem. Compared to the slightly more expensive models, nothing has changed in the camera system, while the battery with 5000mAh has slightly more capacity than the 4500mAh of the previous CE models. The device has a 3.5mm jack. The phone is also slightly thicker at 8.5mm. The CE 2 Lite will be released in a week and will cost 299 euros. The CE 2 came out for 359 euros; the CE cost 329 euros at release last year.

OnePlus also came with the Nord 2T. This is the first time that a T-model from OnePlus appears in the year after the original. The 3T, 5T, 6T and 7T appeared in the same year as the 3, 5, 6 and 7. The concept resembles that of T-phones, with a barely changed design and an upgrade of the soc.

The Nord 2T can also load faster; the charging speed goes from 65 to 80W, a change that will probably be little noticeable in practice. The 3.5mm jack, which was also not found on the Nord 2, does not return on this phone. The price is unchanged. The version with 8GB memory and 128GB storage will cost 399 euros, the variant with 12GB memory and 256GB storage should yield 499 euros. The release is next week.
