OnePlus presents charger for wireless charging with 30W

OnePlus has announced its Warp Charge 30 Wireless. With that charger, the upcoming OnePlus 8 smartphones can be charged wirelessly with 30W. After half an hour, the battery is thus 50 percent charged, says OnePlus.

OnePlus shows a drawing of the new charger and says it is suitable for the OnePlus 8 devices, which will be announced in a week. According to rumors, only the OnePlus 8 Pro can charge wirelessly with 30W and the regular version cannot. However, OnePlus doesn’t say anything about that in its announcement of the Warp Charge 30.

According to OnePlus, the charger uses a ‘custom-made chip’ for communication between the charger and smartphone. This makes it possible to charge wirelessly with 30 watts, much faster than most wireless chargers until now, which are usually around 10W. The efficiency would be 97 percent.

At the beginning of this year, OnePlus announced that it was joining a wireless charging partnership. Until now, OnePlus phones did not have the option of wireless charging.
