OnePlus announces that its first two smartphones will receive an upgrade to Android Marshmallow in early 2016. The OnePlus One will get a new version of Cyanogen OS, while the OnePlus 2 will get an OxygenOS version of Android 6.0.

Smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has announced the update plans on its forum. The company does not want to mention specific dates, but says that the OnePlus One will receive the update in the first quarter of 2016. It will be CM13, a new version of Cyanogen OS, the operating system with which the first smartphone from OnePlus was delivered.

The OnePlus 2 will also receive an update to Android 6.0 in the first quarter of 2016. In this case, it is a new version of OxygenOS. This update will also include the new fingerprint scanner API. A community build of OxygenOS is available for the OnePlus One, ‘when there is time’ it will be upgraded to Marshmallow.

OnePlus has not yet announced when its latest device, the OnePlus X, will receive an update to Marshmallow. The manufacturer says it is working hard to do that as soon as possible. The device comes with a version of OxygenOS that is based on Android 5.1. However, OnePlus regularly updates and promises to continue to do so.
