Tech manufacturer OnePlus is working with keyboard maker Keychron on a ‘fully customizable’ mechanical keyboard. Different keycaps and mechanical switches should be available for the keyboard. No release date or price has been shared yet.

Based on community feedback via the Open Ears Forum concludes OnePlus that a mechanical keyboard should remain comfortable to use throughout an eight-hour working day. Therefore, the keyboard should not be too high. In addition, several different switches should be available and the price should not be too high. Furthermore, the company mentions two purposes for the keyboard, namely productivity and gaming.

On the other hand, because OnePlus has not yet shared any concrete details, apart from the feedback from forum participants, it remains limited to a few key points for the time being: the mechanical keyboard will have a long lifespan, is suitable for all working scenarios and should continue to work well after long-term use. It’s not entirely clear what the brand means by a ‘fully customizable’ design; Usually only keycaps and switches of a keyboard can be exchanged. Considering the collaboration with Keychron it is according to XDA Developers It is likely that it is a rebranded Keychron keyboard, possibly with some adjustments from OnePlus.
