OnePlus investigates credit card fraud reports after site purchase
On the OnePlus forum and on Reddit, some people are reporting fraudulent credit card payments after making a purchase on the Chinese smartphone maker’s site. The company says it is conducting an investigation.
OnePlus has mentioned some details about its payment process in a forum post about credit card safety, but only says that there will be a “complete audit” in response to the reports. The company writes that it does not store payment details and that it uses a payment provider. It also says it doesn’t use Magento, as a post from a security company suggested. OnePlus urges users to check their credit card payments.
Currently, 64 people report purchasing a product through the OnePlus site in the past two months and then experiencing fraudulent payments, according to a survey by one user. On the other hand, there are 38 people who claim to have made a purchase without experiencing suspicious transactions.
This does not mean that there is a direct link between the purchases and the fraud, but some users claim that they have not used their credit cards for other purchases during the period in question. Discussion has also arisen on Reddit as a result of the forum post and people indicate that they have also had to deal with credit card purchases that they have not made themselves. OnePlus says it wants to share the progress of the investigation.
