OnePlus has announced the Buds Z2 wireless earphones. They have active noise canceling, 11mm drivers and a battery life of 7 hours per ear. The latency is 94ms and Dolby Atmos is supported, but only with compatible OnePlus phones.

The active noise canceling can generate a maximum of 40dB of counter frequencies by using three built-in microphones per earpiece, according to OnePlus. The noise reduction has two modes: weak and extreme. The Buds Z2 have Bluetooth 5.2 and 11mm drivers that are also used in the OnePlus Buds Pro earphones. They support the SBC and AAC codec. Dolby Atmos is also supported, but only on OnePlus 7, 7T, 7T Pro, 8, 8 Pro, 8T, 9, 9 Pro, 9 R and 9RT devices. The earphones have a latency of 94ms, but that is again only in combination with the above-mentioned OnePlus phones and if the gaming mode is activated on those devices.

The Buds Z2 earphones each have a 40mAh battery, with which they last seven hours with active noise canceling turned off, according to the manufacturer. When activated, the earbuds last for five hours on a single charge. After ten minutes of fast charging in the case, the earphones last for two hours again. The included charging case has a 520mAh battery on board. In combination with the case, the earphones would last a total of 38 hours if the noise canceling is not active and 27 hours if it is active. Users can make phone calls for 3.5 hours with the earphones.

The earphones have an IP55 rating and are therefore dust and splash-proof. The case has an IPX4 rating and is therefore only splash-proof. The Buds Z2 earphones should cost 99 euros and thus come in price between the Buds Z, which cost 59 euros, and the Buds Pro, which cost 149 euros. Both versions of the Buds Z2 are available through the OnePlus website. The white version will be available from the end of December, the black version will be delivered on a date to be communicated.
