OnePlus asks users to invent new function for OxygenOS
OnePlus is asking its users to come up with a new feature for its OxygenOS operating system. The smartphone manufacturer says it will choose one from the submissions and implement it in its software for smartphones.
Submitted ideas must meet a number of conditions. Users must submit a so-called product requirements document. This prd contains answers to questions such as ‘who are the users?’ and ‘what is the value for users?’. Entrants must also explain how their function is better than comparable functions on other smartphones, if the function is already in other smartphones.
Furthermore, OnePlus asks to explain logically how the proposed feature works and to elaborate that with sketches, which explain the functionality from screen to screen. The product team, developers and ux designers will judge the submissions.
OnePlus posted the request on its forum Monday morning. Users must submit ideas through the OnePlus forum and the submissions are therefore publicly viewable. Submissions can be made in the next three weeks and OnePlus says it will announce in mid-March which idea it has chosen to work out. The manufacturer’s software team will make that choice.
