OnePlus 8 gets update that should fix screen and touch problems
OnePlus has released a software update for its latest line of smartphones. The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro get new software to fix a number of problems, including greens at lower brightness and the touch sensitivity of the touchscreen at the edges.
The new software will be sent immediately to owners of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, but as usual, it may take a while before the update is available to everyone. The changelog, which has been put online by Android Police, shows that a large number of problems must be fixed. For example, OnePlus reports improving the display. This seems to be a problem with grayscales at low brightness: they were displayed as green for many users. Experiences from Android Police show that this problem has been partially solved with the new software.
OnePlus has also improved the sensitivity of the touchscreen. Users of the OnePlus 8 Pro had reported problems at the edges of the screen, where a touch was detected too often. The touchscreen should now be less likely to detect a touch at the edges, making it less likely to translate a short-term touch that a user accidentally makes into input.
In addition, the camera has received a number of improvements. For example, the white balance has been improved and the stability of the camera should be better. Finally, the OnePlus 8 Pro has received a modified interface for the Bedtime mode.
