OnePlus 2 gets usb-c
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus gives its OnePlus 2 smartphone a USB-c port. The phone maker has announced this. It is one of the first smartphones with a USB connector of the new type.
The manufacturer does not disclose whether it is USB 3.1 or an earlier version of USB, but does say that it has added its own functions to USB-C, which it wants to patent and about which it will announce more later. With an adapter, users can continue to use the old charging cables.
The OnePlus 2 is therefore one of the first Android smartphones with a USB-C port. Letv, also Chinese, has already released a few models with USB-C. It is expected that other manufacturers such as Samsung will follow soon.
Usb-c has the advantage over current micro-usb that it is reversible, so there is no wrong way to plug the charger. In addition, it is a universal USB port, which should be on smartphones as well as on tablets, laptops and desktops.
OnePlus has announced few details about the 2. However, the device will receive a Snapdragon 810 v2.1, the same soc as in the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro. When the manufacturer will fully reveal the OnePlus 2 and when it will be for sale is still unknown.
