OnePlus 2 gets built-in fingerprint scanner
The successor of the OnePlus One gets a fingerprint scanner to unlock the device. According to the manufacturer, the feature works faster than competitor Apple. The OnePlus 2 will be officially unveiled on July 28.
On its blog, the Chinese OnePlus confirms previous rumors about a fingerprint scanner. The company states that an ‘advanced’ scanner is built in that can quickly recognize fingerprints. Scanning a fingerprint would be faster than with the TouchID fingerprint scanner that Apple has built into its products. OnePlus does not show comparative benchmarks, by the way.
It is possible to store five different prints with the fingerprint scanner in the OnePlus 2. According to the manufacturer, they are stored securely, although no details about the security were given. It is also not known where the scanner will be placed in the housing, but it is likely that it is incorporated in the home button, as is also done with many other smartphones.
OnePlus has recently released new information about the successor of the popular One smartphone. For example, a Snapdragon 810-soc has been built in, which, according to the manufacturer, does not suffer from overheating and there is a USB-C port. The OnePlus 2 will be officially unveiled on July 28, and more details are likely to become known about the specifications, price and release date.
