OnePlus 10 Pro breaks in half in JerryRigEverything durability test
JerryRigEverything’s Zack Nelson managed to break the OnePlus 10 Pro in half with his bare hands. According to him, it rarely happens that a smartphone does not survive the durability test of his YouTube channel.
The spot directly below the camera seems to be the smartphone’s main weakness, concluded JerryRigEverything during the durability test. The 5000mAh battery covers about two-thirds of the entire OnePlus 10 Pro, but stops just below the relevant breaking line. This would prevent the battery from contributing to the structural integrity of the device. The YouTuber also discovers that the volume knob is placed exactly on this line, making the metal frame around the breakline weaker.
Although JerryRigEverything’s tests are not scientific and exactly repeatable, Nelson subjects all smartphones to roughly the same durability test. “It is relatively exceptional that a smartphone does not pass my durability test. (…) Normally, devices cannot be broken in half with bare hands.” It does happen regularly that devices are damaged by the concentrated pressure that Nelson exerts on smartphones; for example, the OnePlus Nord’s frame also broke, although catastrophic damage did not occur.
OnePlus has not yet commented on the results of the JerryRigEverything video. For now, the smartphone is only available in China. It is not yet officially known whether devices from the OnePlus 10 series will also be released in Europe. According to previous rumors and a leaked roadmap, the manufacturer would release the 10-series in January or February in the home country. An international release would take place in March or April.
