One UI 6 seems to lack status bar burn-in protection

It seems that One UI 6 no longer has a protection measure against burning in the status bar on the phone screen. Several users have noticed that the status bar always stays in the same place, which can lead to a ghosting.

Multiple users on Reddit note that the status bar remains at the top of the screen on Samsung devices running Android 14. This way, the battery icon and the clock do not shift. Users can test this by taking a screenshot, changing the view from portrait to landscape and back again, and then taking another screenshot.

User dragosslash overlaid the screenshots taken with the One UI 5 interface and compared them to the One UI 6 images. This shows that the status bar in One UI 5 is always moved slightly, while the icons in 6 remain there. The navigation buttons keep moving, says dragosslash.

However, it is difficult to determine that the protection measure is not included in One UI 6, writes 9to5Google. It’s possible that Samsung has adjusted the screenshots to compensate for the moving status bar, or the company is using a new method to prevent ghosting. In addition, the screenshots were taken on two different devices: a Galaxy S23 Ultra with One UI 6 and a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with One UI 5.
