On October 31, X will stop the function that makes posts visible to a limited group

X will discontinue its Circle feature on October 31. This allows users to share posts with a select group of users. The social media platform has not given a reason for the termination.

X writes on its support page that as of October 31 it will no longer be possible to create posts that are only visible to the user’s ‘Circle’. From that date onwards, users can no longer be added to the Circle. It is still possible to remove users from the selective circle by unfollowing them. They will then no longer be able to see previous Circle posts.

Twitter Circle was released a year ago. It was intended to make the platform more ‘accessible’, because users can decide for themselves who they show their posts to. However, in May it emerged that a security problem caused Circle messages to become public for a while and therefore be visible to users outside the selective circle.
