Olympus will probably present new camera in E-M1 series at the end of January
Olympus will announce a new camera on January 24. The shape can be seen in a teaser video and it is a fairly large model. It is probably the successor of the E-M1, which is rumored to be called E-M1X and is a faster version.
Olympus announces the date in the teaser video and the camera itself can also be seen, although the images do not provide details about the specifications. The appearance of the camera resembles that of the OM-D E-M1, of which Olympus has released two versions so far. The latest is from 2016.
According to rumor site 43rumors, it is the OM-D E-M1X. Like its predecessors, it would be a micro four thirds camera with a 20-megapixel sensor. The new model would be faster due to the use of two image processors and the image stabilization of the sensor would be more effective. Also, the focus area would be automatically adjusted to the subject with artificial intelligence.
The alleged specifications speak of a shooting speed of 18 frames per second and image stabilization effective up to 7.5 stops. The camera would also have a High Res mode that works without a tripod. Multiple photos are combined into one high-resolution image. The device itself would have a larger electronic viewfinder than the current E-M1 II, while the same battery is used. Olympus aims the device at sports and nature photographers, the price would be about 3000 dollars.
