Olympus will release its Pen E-PL10 system camera in Europe on Wednesday. The device is almost the same as its almost two-year-old predecessor, but now has a screen that folds down instead of up. There are also new software features.

Like the E-PL9, the Olympus Pen E-PL10 has a 16.1-megapixel sensor of the microfour-thirds format and a TruePic VIII image processor. The sensor is equipped with three-axis image stabilization. On the back is a 3″ LCD with 1.04 million pixels. The screen can be tilted 180 degrees, for taking selfies and vlogs. The screen folds out on the new model, the screen flips up on the predecessor .

The device shoots a maximum of 8.6 photos per second and can film in 4k resolution with a maximum of 30 fps. Users can provide photos with Aft Filters; new is a Fine Tune option to adjust the strength of the effects. The E-PL10 has WiFi and Bluetooth and can be connected to the Olympus Image Share app.

Olympus announced the E-PL10 a month ago, along with the OM-D E-M5 Mark III. At the time, it seemed that the device would only be released in China and Japan. So now a release in Europe follows. Olympus sells the device through its own web store. The body costs 599 euros separately and there is a kit with a compact 14-42 mm zoom lens for 699 euros. The camera is available in white, black and brown.
