Olympus equips its first action camera with a sensor system
Olympus has announced its first action camera. The Stylus Tough TG-Tracker features a sturdy body and numerous sensors, such as a barometer and accelerometer. The 4k camera also includes a 1.5″ LCD.
The Stylus Tough TG-Tracker has GPS support, a barometer, thermometer, compass and accelerometer on board. The collected location, depth and weather data can be displayed on Olympus’ Image Track app along with the captured footage.
To distinguish itself from the GoPro cameras, the action cam also has five-axis image stabilization and a lens angle of 204 degrees. There is also a tilt-out LCD with a diameter of 1.5 inches and there is WiFi support.
The camera features an f/2.0 wide-angle lens with a 204-degree field of view, an eight-megapixel sensor and a Truepic TM VII image processor. The model can shoot 4k video at 30fps and is resistant to moisture and dust without additional accessories. In addition, the Stylus Tough TG-Tracker can function underwater up to thirty meters and withstand temperatures of up to -10 degrees Celsius. Olympus will start sales in July for 349 euros.
