OCZ has announced xmp-sodimm memory for notebooks. The Intel Extreme modules run at 1066MHz and have latencies of 6-6-6-16. They are mainly intended for laptops with an Intel Core 2 Extreme processor.

Intel Extreme Memory Profile or xmp memory uses Serial Presence Detect to provide a set of overclocking presets with timings, frequency and voltages already set. OCZ is one of the first manufacturers to market xmp memory for notebooks. The manufacturer provides the sodimm modules with a speed of 1066MHz and 6-6-6-16 latencies. Users don’t need to set up anything: the modules can simply be plugged into a notebook and the system will run at the correct memory speeds upon startup.

OCZ brings a 4GB kit and a single 2GB module of the pc3-8500 memory. Although the modules are mainly intended for mobile Intel Core 2 Extreme machines, all Centrino 2 systems can be equipped with the memory. The prices of the high-end notebook memory are still unknown.
