Octopath Traveler is getting a sequel on Switch, PS4, PS5 and PC in February
Nintendo will announce a sequel to Ocotopath Traveler during the Direct presentation. The sequel is called Octopath Traveler 2 and should be released in February 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5 and PC.
The first part of Octopath Traveler was released in 2018 from Square Enix. The game stood out for its retro graphic style, which is a mix between 2D sprites and 3D polygons. This is also known as HD-2D. In the game, players can choose from eight different stories, which are linked to the same number of characters.
This is also the case in Octopath Traveler 2, but with eight new characters and accompanying storylines. The trailer introduces the eight characters who are all a different type, from scientist to dancer. The story in this sequel is not connected to the story in part one, so it is not necessary to play part one to understand the events in part two.
The first part was initially released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Later, the game also came to other platforms. Part two will also be available immediately on PC and PlayStation 4 and 5 in addition to its release for Nintendo Switch.
