NZXT is pausing sales of its H1 enclosures due to an issue where the PCIe riser could potentially cause a short circuit. The company reports that it appears to be a limited percentage of H1 enclosures and is shipping repair kits to users.

NZXT initially reported the problem on Reddit . The company is urging users to contact a special NZXT email address. The manufacturer states that it will ship repair kits to users in the coming weeks, eliminating the need for H1 users to send their cases to NZXT to fix the problem.

NZXT has now also published a more extensive blog post . The company reports that it appears to be a small percentage of the H1 housings. According to NZXT, “less than ten” cases have been reported so far. The manufacturer also recommends that users turn off their H1 PCs until they receive a repair kit and have it installed. “While we have identified this issue as extremely rare, the safest approach is to shut down your H1 system until a kit is shipped to you and the repair is complete.”

The problem is caused by the PCIe riser , which mounts the video card in the tower case. The two screws used to secure this riser to the enclosure can cause a short circuit, according to the company. Due to the form factor of the case, it is not possible to install a video card without this PCIe riser in the H1.

A few users have previously reported the problem on Reddit. For example, a user reports that his or her H1 system started smoking when the PC was first booted. Another Reddit user reports that an H1 system’s PCIe riser partially caught fire.
