Nvidia releases GeForce driver with ray tracing support for Battlefield V
Nvidia has released a driver that adds ray tracing support for Battlefield V. To use it, a GeForce RTX video card is required. EA also has to provide the game with the necessary update to enable ray tracing.
Battlefield V will be the first game where ray tracing can actually be used. Nvidia released its RTX video cards in September, but until now there were no games available that use the RT cores of the new architecture.
After installing the latest Game Ready Driver, version 416.94 WHQL, ray tracing does not yet work in Battlefield V. First, publisher EA must release a patch for the game. According to Nvidia, that will happen around the time the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition comes out. That version of the game will be available for purchase from Thursday.
According to the announcement, publisher EA, developer Dice and Nvidia will continue to optimize the implementation of ray tracing after the release. There will be regular updates for this. It is not yet known when other games will receive support for ray tracing. Nvidia previously announced that the technology will come to Shadow of the Tomb Raider, among others, but the necessary updates are not yet available.
