Nvidia is launching a public test, with its streaming game service offering Grid display at 1920×1080 pixels at 60fps. The display only works with some games and in combination with Shield hardware.

Until now, Grid’s maximum resolution was 1280×720 pixels, but Nvidia increases this to 1920×1080 pixels at 60 frames per second in 35 games, including Batman: Arkham Origins, GRID 2, and Ultra Street Fighter 4. In total, Grid’s collection of games consists of from just over fifty titles.

Since its launch in November, Grid has only been available to Shield handheld owners, who can use it free of charge until June 30. They have to use the Shield Hub application for that and after connecting to a full HD TV they can get the 1080p60 display.

Nvidia does recommend an internet connection of at least 30Mbps and a ‘Shield Ready’ router would also be recommended for smooth playback, although WiFi-ac routers and fast WiFi-n routers with 5GHz support seem sufficient.
