Nvidia delivered a total of 7.7 million GPUs to its board partners, according to Jon Peddie Research. These are manufacturers who use the GPUs from companies such as AMD and Nvidia to design their own video cards. That was approximately 100,000 extra copies compared to the previous quarter. That number accounts for 88 percent of deliveries, while Nvidia had a share of around 80 percent a quarter earlier. This is a new record for Nvidia, is evident from historical data from 3DCenter.
Although the total number of deliveries to GPU board partners fell by 7.9 percent last quarter, those of Nvidia increased slightly. The decline was mainly at the expense of AMD, which supplied 41 percent fewer GPUs to its partners than a quarter earlier. This gives it a share of 12 percent. Intel's share fell from 1 to 0 percent last quarter.
The picture is different on the entire PC GPU market, and not just in terms of deliveries to board partners. also reports VideoCardz. JPR writes in its report that Nvidia accounted for 66 percent of the deliveries. At AMD that percentage is 16 percent and Intel has 18 percent of the market. This will probably also include IPUs in processors.
The fact that Nvidia is the largest player in the GPU market is not a new phenomenon. The company has been steadily gaining market share for years. The company recently achieved this for the first time a stock market value of $3 trillionwith which it immediately overtook Apple.
