Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 seems to get variants with 3GB, 4GB and 6GB
Gigabyte has registered trade names for 40 different RTX 2060 video cards. It can be concluded that there are variants with 3GB, 4GB and 6GB vram. It also seems that there will be versions with gddr6 as well as versions with gddr5 or gddr5x.
Gigabyte has registered the names of the video cards with the Eurasian Economic Commission and that was noticed by Twitter user Komachi. The code names indicate that there will be RTX 2060 versions with 3GB, 4GB and 6GB. Nvidia released versions of the GTX 1060 with 3GB and 6GB, in which the number of cudacores also differs. This may also be the case with the new RTX 2060 variants.
If there is a 4GB variant, Nvidia will have to adjust the width of the memory bus. Like the RTX 2070, it could be a 256-bit memory bus, or a much slower 128-bit bus. A smaller bus could be compensated for by using fast memory. The 6GB and 3GB versions get a 192bit memory bus due to their configuration.
The list includes variants with GD and GC designations. The former indicates the presence of gddr6 memory, while GC stands for gddr5 or gddr5x. Gigabyte’s registrations contain GD and GC variants of the 3GB, 4GB and 6GB versions. It therefore seems that Nvidia is coming with six configurations of the RTX 2060.
Nvidia is likely to present its GeForce RTX 2060 video card at the CES electronics show early next year. The manufacturer will hold a press conference there on January 6. It is expected that RTX video cards for laptops will also be announced.
At the beginning of December, an image of an RTX 2060 video card from Gigabyte already leaked. According to VideoCardz, it gets 1920 cudacores. The previously released RTX 2070, 2080 and 2080 Ti have 2304, 2944 and 4352 cudacores respectively.
